How do we celebrate 100 episodes of The Work Talk Show? With another special super-sized episode! Our 100th show is nearly twice as long as our regular episodes and features not one, but two crazy smart guests. This week we mark this milestone with return appearances from Ann Handley and Chris Brogan. A lot has changed for both of our guests and we couldn’t wait to catch up with them.
What Do They Do? Since we last spoke with Ann Handley and Chris Brogan two whole years have passed. Chris has shifted his focus from social media and digital marketing to equipping owners for success. While Ann’s still the Chief Content Officer at MarketingProfs, she’s now the best-selling author of another book, Everybody Writes. How Do They Do It? Both have changed how they get work done as well. Ann’s changes involved an actual construction project with the addition of a “tiny house” behind her actual house, which she uses as an office and writing retreat. Chris’ changes have been health focused as he realized that his body was an important part of how he gets work done. His transformation has helped him realize physical and mental health benefits over the past couple of years. This led to an overall discussion on health that you won’t want to miss. Overall, several big themes emerged during this special episode including health, side projects, and focus. What Are the 3 Apps Chris and Ann Can’t Live Without? Chris loves Instagram, WhatsApp, and his email inbox (Infusionsoft is his provider). Ann also can’t live without Instagram, Snapchat (for keeping in touch with her teens), and Rococo, which replicates virtual offices on desktop computers. Shout-outs and Shameless Plugs! Nick gave a shout to Chris for connecting with his son Sam at the recent Social Brand Forum. He also mentioned listener Sharon Suchoval. DJ kept with the theme of shout outs to our kids by praising his daughter Eva for understanding what his new venture Coach DJ is all about. Chris pointed us to Navy Seal and New York Times Best-Selling Author Brandon Webb. Ann gave a shout to our fellow podcaster, past guest, and mutual friend Kerry Gorgone — pointing out that it isn’t always fun to work with friends but Kerry and Corey O'Loughlin are two notable exceptions to this rule. Finally, as always, we gave a shout to our tireless Chief Technical Officer Jess Ostroff at Don’t Panic Management.
