Episode Number 87Rachelle Lucas on Travel as Work

Rachelle Lucas is a writer, spokesperson, and videographer. A foodie with a zest for life and passion for travel, Rachelle has been blogging since 2007. As her wanderlust grew, she pursued travel writing full-time and has since been to over 34 countries in pursuit of the tastiest meal. In addition to her blog, The Travel Bite, she’s also the Food and Dining Insider for Visit Florida and was recently named by KRED as one of the Top 50 Travel Bloggers in the world.

Show Notes

Prior to launching The Travel Bite, Rachelle described herself as a “corporate runaway” who was looking for something to do outside of the traditional suit-and-tie, 9 to 5 job. She started blogging first to document her life as an innkeeper. She enjoyed content creation so much she decided to pursue it full time through her blog and assignments from The Travel Channel.

If you stack Rachelle’s travel up, she’s on the road four to five months of the year. She finds it hard to work while traveling so she takes extensive photos and notes for reconstructing her journeys when she returns home. The big surprise? When she’s at home, Rachelle is something of a “homebody.” A person can’t be on the go all the time!

What Are the 3 Apps Rachelle Can’t Live Without? TripIt, TinyScan (for signatures and receipts — you can’t travel with a printer!), and Instagram is her favorite social network as it helps her share her travels with the world. As a bonus, she added Camera Studio+ to the mix.
