Mish Slade and Rob Dix — or simply “Mish and Rob” — focus on making it anywhere. What is it, you may ask? For this adventurous couple it is their work and so far the anywhere has been New York, Boulder, Washington DC, Paris, London, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Penang, Berlin, Sofia, and Madrid. While we were exhausted just reading that (!) we were thrilled that these two stopped by to share their secrets with us.
Believe it or not, one of Mish and Rob's biggest secrets to Making It Anywhere is the fact that they are both self described "creatures of habit." This means they have the process of packing up their work and life and moving it around the globe down to a refined SOP or standard operating procedure. Though they are good at moving around, they both readily admit that they aren't always good at focus. They embrace this by getting a lot done for their brand consultancy, Mortified Cow, first thing in the morning so they can explore their surroundings more in the afternoon. They also work to spark creativity by taking different routes to their work destinations for the day. What tools do they use to keep them in sync with the rest of the world? Dropbox, Gmail, and World Time Buddy keep them connected and on-time. Other than when they exercise in the morning, this married couple — it's been 8 years since their first kiss! — spends the entire day together. A time when it's not all kisses and rainbows is when they travel. "Anytime we have to catch a plane it's almost a divorce day," Mish shared with a laugh (one of many during this very fun show!). For shout outs and shameless plugs Nick reminded listeners about the special savings they can get when they use the code worktalk to register for this fall's Social Brand Forum featuring DJ, Jay Baer, Jason Falls, Gini Dietrich and more! DJ gave some love to his email newsletter subscribers. Rob reminded us to join the mailing list to Making It Anywhere while Mish invited us to download their FREE ebook No More Boring Businesses. Until next week, we'll see you on the Internet! Before you get your passport stamped — If you liked what you heard (or even if you didn't), head over to iTunes and give us a quick rating and review to help others find the show.
