In his role heading up global social media for the Online Services Division at Citrix, Justin Levy has a lot to say about how we get work done today. Indeed, his responsibilities at Citrix include serving as editor-in-chief of the company’s off-branded community, Workshifting, which examines many of the issues discussed on this podcast in great detail. We sat down with Justin and talked about how he sets up a day that includes both professional productivity and personal fitness.
When we began this podcast, one term we mentioned frequently was "workshifting." As such, it's only fitting that we got to sit down with one of the leaders of the Workshifting movement, Justin Levy, head of global social media for the Online Services Division at Citrix. Powering our mobile work lives through tools like GoToMeeting and Podio, Citrix saw the need early on to provide an outlet for this emerging conversation. As editor-in-chief of Workshifting.com, which is celebrating its 4-year anniversary, Justin gave us the back story on this community that has refreshed the stale concepts around "telecommuting" to better address the shifts that have taken place in how we get things done today. (As an aside, please check out Workshifting if you haven't done so already. It's The Work Talk Show on steroids!) Levy is also an expert on the convergence of productivity with personal fitness. As he notes, "the more fit and active you are, the more productive you can be" as you're firing on all cylinders. Levy rises every morning at 4:30 AM and is at the gym just after 5:00. In addition to being good for his health, this early trip also sets a tone for productivity. As someone who works from a home office, it also breathes some fresh, outside air into his day right off the bat. While working out, Justin focuses 100% on the task at hand to clear his mind and set his day. When it came time for shout-outs, Nick singled out more of our great fans in The Work Talk Show community including Tim Washer and fellow podcaster Todd Schnick. Thanks for listening and spreading the word! Justin himself just joined the podcasting ranks with the show Socialized Business, which he hosts with Michael Brito of Edelman Digital and Jason Keath of Social Fresh. Until next week, see you on the internet! If you need a shift in what you're working on right now ... If you liked what you heard (or even if you didn't), head over to iTunes and give us a quick rating and review to help others find the show.
