Episode Number 70Chris Taylor on Working in a Cave (Literally)

Chris Taylor is the founder of Actionablebooks.com – a company dedicated to helping business leaders develop themselves and their teams through the application of lessons from leading business books. Through his work at Actionable Books, Chris Taylor reads, writes, and speaks. A lot. And here’s the best part. He does it all from a cave. In Spain. Curious to know more?

Show Notes

To date, Chris Taylor has published over 150 articles, speaks regularly at both public and private events across North America, and has read more business books than he cares to count as part of his work as founder of Actionable Books. In 2010, Chris launched "Actionable Interviews" a video interview series with best selling business book authors and leading thinkers in the business space. And, again, he does all of this from a self-sustaining cave home in Spain. It’s not as dark as it sounds as it has enormous skylights. This is in large part due to the Results-Only Work Environment (ROWE) Chris has fostered among Actionable Books’ 12 employees who are scattered across the planet.

One big advantage? Being hours ahead he can start his day later and still be there when the team arrives. One disadvantage? The cave has curved walls that make it hard to whiteboard. Learn how Chris solved this problem and where he and his wife are moving next on this week’s episode. HINT: It tops the cave. Literally. Speaking of the cave ... we had to see it so Chris made us this video:

What are the 3 Apps Chris Can’t Live Without? Skype is his primary phone line and critical to his work and life. He also enjoys Apps Gone Free and Audible for reading on the go.

Shout-outs and plugs! Nick kicked things off by shamelessly plugging his Content Marketing Boot Camp, reminding listeners that they can save big on registration using promo code WORKTALK. DJ gave a big shout out to Jess Ostroff who serves as Chief Technical Officer of both this show and the Marketo Marketing Nation Podcast. Chris gave a shout out to his team member Kira, for all that she does — including getting him booked on The Work Talk Show. He also directed listeners to check out ActionableBooks.com, where 95% of the info is free and readily available.

Until next week, see you on the Internet!
