Episode Number 46Amy Schmittauer on Priorities

Amy Schmittauer is President and CEO of Vlog Boss Studios, parent company of Savvy Sexy Social. In addition to “making a lot of freaking videos,” Amy helps businesses create a strategy to organically grow online presence and social relationships. As a content creator for both her own business and her clients, Amy shares a struggle that many of us grapple with — how to plan her time and serve both optimally. Amy shared her secrets with us on this week’s episode.

Show Notes

Amy Schmittauer is the Founder of Savvy Sexy Social and President of Vlog Boss Studios, a digital marketing agency specializing in video content creation. She's been on her own as a home-based business for the past two years. In that time she's learned a thing or two about juggling multiple internal and external projects.

As Amy creates video throughout the week, she focuses her time earlier in the week on her own content, noting that for the long-term health of her business she needs to continue to build and strengthen her own brand. To maximize this time, she maps her own weekly content out with easy-to-follow themes. The rest of the week is reserved for client work and consulting projects.

As for her routine, as a self described "inbox zero person," Amy checks email first thing in the morning and many times throughout the day. Given the role that time management plays in her routine, Amy also devotes considerable resources to scheduling tools.

For shout out and shameless plugs, Nick mentioned an exciting crowd-funding campaign to get a cinema in downtown Iowa City (donate now!), while DJ had some exciting updates on the final push of his 90 Days to Ellen project. As a true testament to having her priorities in order, Amy gave shout outs to her amazing support system — her beagle, her boyfriend, and her mom. She also encouraged listeners to subscribe to her YouTube channel.

Until next week, we'll see you on the Internet.
